Riley’s session at Castlewood State Park couldn’t have been a more perfect location for his senior pictures. It was his first visit to the park, and he loved exploring the trails, taking in the overlook views, and relaxing by the creek. As someone who loves the outdoors, Riley was right at home in his natural element. At one point, while at the overlook, a few turkey vultures flew overhead. Riley turned to watch them, and it was the perfect moment to capture him enjoying the nature that not only grows around him, but lives around and above him.
Riley is heading to Colorado State University in the fall to study chemical engineering. He wore his favorite CSU hoodie for the photos, something he often wears. His family also frequently hikes in Colorado, so the hike was an extra nod at the hiker part of his personality. Another special touch during the session was Riley bringing two of his terrariums. With a whole collection of them at home, these little plants are clearly a big part of who he is. It was great to include something so personal in the photos. Alexa wanted to head to Forest Park for her senior pictures, with the Muny being one of her top locations. We made it our first stop as it was a perfect location choice since theatre is one of her passions. We snapped some lovely images of Alexa walking under the grand chandelier and standing in the rotunda that has all this season’s upcoming shows posted. It was the perfect way to embrace that love of theatre. The pagoda across the street was another spot where we found beautiful flowers blooming all around. From short blooms to tall stalks and even flowers overhead in the trees, spring color was everywhere. There was even a patch of short purple flowers growing in front of the pagoda and lake that were perfect for a fairytale scene as Alexa sat down and draped her dress to the side of her with her hand in her hair.
From there, we headed down to the lake basin at Art Hill for some sunset photos by the water. We also found plenty of beautiful flowers blooming nearby where Alexa was able to lean against the trees and crouch among the flower patches for a different variety of poses. We decided that this would be the perfect place to end our session and decided to walk along the path by the lake basin. We found some tall purple bushes in full bloom that made for an unexpected but perfect spot. The colors worked so well with Alexa’s cap and gown and added something really special to the gallery. (These are my favorite from her gallery for sure.)
Alexa was kind, easygoing, and such a calm presence throughout the session. We actually had a hiccup during her session, so we went a little over to make up for lost time and were able to catch the soft light of blue hour as it set in, giving the final photos a soft and peaceful feel. For Evan’s senior session we headed to Forest Park’s Victorian Bridge. His family visits the park often, but this quiet, lesser-known spot was new to them making it the perfect place to capture Evan and his calm and easy-going personality. As we walked to and past the bridge, we followed a creek that has periodic rocks nearby. These rocks were great for some comfortable sitting poses. We even walked down a boardwalk which was great for him to lean back against and cross his arms. And since this area of the park has a fair amount of wooded areas, Evan was even able to stand on a dirt pathway, surrounded by trees and greenery, for a perfect forest feel. As we made our way around this section of the park we noticed a huge, twisted, dead tree that we couldn’t stop talking about. It was such a cool and unique backdrop that we had to utilize.
Of Evan’s two outfits, one was a bit more casual, which he liked to call his “street” attire. With a stone building nearby, it gave us the awesome opportunity to really amp up that street feel. The building even had a blue, wooden garage door that made for the perfect lean back, cool guy, serious face pose. It just yelled “street scene.”
Throughout the session, Evan was an absolute pleasure to work with as he was easy-going and kind. He even shared his plans of earning his pilot’s license and joining the Navy to fly planes off ships, which I was in awe by and salute him. Check out his images below!

Brooke had only one request during her senior session and that was to capture the flowers at the Jewel Box in her background. That was the most important thing to her, so I made sure we spent plenty of time working with all those beautiful flowers. She even had a black dress picked out specifically for those photos.
While the Jewel Box was Brooke’s main goal, we did venture around The Muny at Forest Park as well, where she wore a beautiful pink dress that complimented the soft tan tones of the architecture. We also went to the creek nearby where her mom asked to take some photos with her. But these weren’t just any ordinary mother daughter photos. Her mom had such adorable ideas in mind that create intimate photos between the two of them.
Lastly, Brooke made sure to bring along her gymnast medals. It was the cherry on top showing off her true personality. Scroll down to view her amazing session!

For Abhinav’s session, we chose to head to Faust Park, because it’s a special location to him. As a child, his mom took him and his family there often. We captured a few portraits near the Butterfly House, incorporating the unique architecture and the beautiful pond in the background. We also explored the historic village that was full of fall color.
Unfortunately, it was supposed to rain all day during Abhinav’s session, but his mom and I were determined to find some part in the day that was dry. While the radar showed us that we’d have some dry time earlier in the day, despite moving up his session we still managed to get caught in a little bit of rain. But no worries. Abhinav was a trooper and worked through the rain. We found some dry spots under the overhangs of the buildings that worked perfect. The rain didn’t stop his session for a second. Check out his photos by scrolling down!
