Heidi | Seeking Out Secret Boardwalks at Shaw Nature Reserve
Heidi is a senior with a beautifully distinct, decisive sense of style, making her session at Shaw Nature Reserve in Gray Summit a truly unique creative collaboration. Because this stunning location is a place she visits often, she had a clear artistic vision for her portraits from the very beginning. We spent our afternoon exploring the Whitmire Wildflower Garden portion of the reserve, taking our time wandering the pathways to find those rare, hidden pockets of scenery that perfectly matched her aesthetic. Heidi brought two completely contrasting looks, one with a great grunge edge and the other beautifully girly, proving she can rock absolutely any vibe with total confidence.
What made this session so rewarding was leaning into Heidi’s incredible independence and eye for detail. She led the way down a tucked-away boardwalk winding right through a swampy marshland, creating a moody, gorgeous backdrop that became an absolute highlight of the day. From capturing the dramatic, vivid look of pure sunlight to finding the perfect natural textures along the walkways, Heidi completely called the shots to ensure her gallery was a true reflection of her personality. Her mom shared afterward just how much Heidi loved the entire experience, and I love that we created a gallery that stands out as entirely, unapologetically her.
