Why You Should Take Summer Senior Pictures in St. Louis

Embracing the Sun, the Greenery, and the Stress-Free Summer Vibe.

While the school year can get incredibly hectic, summer often offers a slower pace, aside from the occasional family vacation or summer league game. This makes summer the perfect window to schedule your senior pictures without the pressure of homework and club meetings. Plus, with the warmer weather, you can finally rock those summery outfits against a backdrop of lush, full greenery.

Vibrant Life Everywhere

One of the best parts of a summer session is the sheer amount of life in the background. You won’t have to worry about dormant trees or brown grass; instead, you’ll have beautiful greens, blooming flowers, blue skies, and running water. Everything just feels, and looks, alive.

Better Odds for Dry Weather

Summer in St. Louis tends to be a drier season, meaning we are much less likely to deal with rain-related rescheduling. If we do get a surprise shower, don't worry. Rainy-day portraits can be incredibly fun and unique, and the best part is you won't be freezing afterward. In fact, a little summer rain can be quite refreshing.

Managing the Temperature

It’s no secret that St. Louis gets hot, but that also means you’ll never have to worry about being too cold in your pictures. To keep you comfortable, I always look for shady spots to shoot in and recommend bringing along water to help you stay cool and hydrated throughout our session. I also typically shoot during the cooler, glowing light of Golden Hour, which you can learn more about in my timing guide.

Fun with Water Features

Summer is the only season where it’s actually fun to stand or splash around in the water with your feet. Whether it's a lakefront or a shallow creek, the water feels amazing on a warm day and adds a playful, authentic element to your portraits.

Effortless Summer Style

Summer is the time to pull out those crop tops, skirts, shorts, and open-toed shoes. Without the heavy layers of winter, you’ll be able to move more freely and comfortably. It’s also the ideal time for short dresses, no leggings required. To help inspire your look, check out my Summer Outfit Guide for more ideas on how to style your favorite seasonal pieces.
