The Best Part About Faust Park
The Butterfly House is a signature feature of the park. Within the conservatory, seniors are surrounded by lush tropical plants and thousands of butterflies, offering a chance for truly magical portraits if a butterfly happens to land nearby. Just outside, a pathway lined with flowers and tall grasses leads toward the lake, providing a clean, natural backdrop that can also include the stunning glass architecture of the Butterfly House in the distance.
Across the lawn sits the Historic Village, a collection of log cabins and vintage structures nestled against a wooded backdrop. These buildings are perfect for architectural portraits—leaning against weathered wood, sitting on wide porches, or posing by rustic fences. This area provides a distinct "country" or "heritage" vibe that feels secluded and timeless.
Toward the back of the property, a forested pathway creates a whimsical scene for strolls through the woods, while nearby tall grasses offer an earthy, adventurous look for those wanting a more organic feel to their images.
What to Expect Each Season
-
Faust Park comes alive in the spring as new leaves fill the canopy and wildflowers bloom along the nature walks. The lakeside area is particularly vibrant during this time, with spring blooms adding color to the tall grasses and the glass conservatory background.
-
Small gardens tucked throughout the historic village reach full bloom in the summer. These floral pockets allow for portraits that combine soft, colorful nature with the strong architectural lines of the historic cabins.
-
The park is heavily wooded, making it a premier spot for viewing vibrant reds and oranges. Whether in the historic village or along the forest trails, the density of trees ensures plenty of autumn color both on the branches and covering the pathways.
-
Unlike many parks that feel barren in the cold, Faust Park remains visually interesting in winter thanks to the historic village. The buildings are painted in classic whites, reds, and yellows, providing bright, structural interest that doesn't rely on greenery.
